Mailbox - Winter Break

[Left in Taako's mailbox is a painted card. The card smells of pine needles, snow and a fireplace, and features Papyrus, waving enthusiastically ahead. Somehow there's boneprint snowflakes faintly falling against the pale background. Along the header and footer, the card reads:]

HAPPY GYFTMAS
(ON THE MOON)
FROM PAPYRUS!!!

[Inside, a personal message continues:]

HI TAAKO,
HOPE YOU'RE ENJOYING THE HOLIDAYS!
AND THE BREAK FROM COOKING.
COOKING FOR WORK, I MEAN.
INSTEAD OF COOKING FOR PLEASURE.
BEING ON VACATION DOESN'T MEAN IT'S A VACATION FROM EATING.
OR FROM WANTING TO COOK...
I MADE A FEW DISHES MYSELF, IN THE CABIN.
THEY MIGHT NOT GET EATEN, BUT IT'S ALL WORTH IT FOR THE EXPERIENCE.
(CLEANING ALWAYS NEEDS DOING, TOO... SO MUCH FOR SLACKING OFF.)

[Oh no. This is super charming, actually. Taako isn't a big artist or anything, but he does leave Papyrus a card in return, along with a small bag of homemade cookies. It reads, in Taako's big, looping cursive:]

Hail and all that, my dude. That was an awfully fancy card, so thanks for that. I have no idea what Gyftmas is, but I guess I can just wish you a happy Candlenights instead, so happy Candlenights, or whatever this is.

I'm not actually sure if you can eat or not, so if you can't, sorry for giving you food? Then again, I guess it would be weird for someone who can't eat to be a cook.

[Papyrus takes the wellwishing in the spirit it's given, even as he marvels: Winter Solstice, Gyftmas, Christmas, Candlenights... Could there really be so many holidays to do with snow and gift-giving? The many worlds have more in common than they don't.

Within a day or two, another plainer letter finds its way to Taako's mailbox.]

GYFTMAS IS A GIFT GIVING HOLIDAY. JUST LIKE THIS WINTER SOLSTICE THING. EXCEPT FROM HOME, AND A LITTLE DIFFERENT. BUT I FIGURED I COULD WISH THIS MORE SINCERELY, AND SO I DID.
